Throughout the entire year, I've daydreamed of getting just a little more sleep, a little more time spent horizontal. This because I was constantly breaking myself down through training. And when breaking yourself down you open yourself up to a greater risk of catching a bug of some kind. I've made it through the entire racing year, through the biggest volume weeks, without catching anything really. I might have had a day or two where I didn't feel great, but no real sickness. From the moment I wrapped up IMAZ my thoughts quickly turned to 2012 and my sights intently locked on getting started with the build for next season. Gave myself a quick break with very little training for the two weeks immediately following AZ and then about two weeks ago, got back to my schedule and started building. Even so, my volume is still half (or less) of what it was during my peak weeks of the past year. Yet somehow I find myself SICK?
I love the holidays as much as the next person, but I can't help but blame this mini setback on all that the holidays bring! I like my schedule. I like my structure. I've been on the couch/my bed for the last 14 hours and despite yearning for this horizontal time throughout the year, this is literally the last thing I want to be doing at the moment.
Bah humbug.
